When I started Caio Terra Online, I wanted to build more than a resource of techniques, I wanted to build a community. I believed then as I do now, that Jiu-Jitsu can make the world a better place. I know it changes lives because it changed mine. I've seen it change the lives of so many of my friends and students, but the problem that always presented itself was how do you show this?
After spending a lot of time I realized the best way to do this would be through life stories of people's journeys, told by the legends themselves. In 2020 I started my first documentary on Fernando "Terere" Augusto, the first superstar of Jiu Jitsu! Although a lot of newer practitioners do not know who Terere is, he influenced a generation and was the teacher of Andre Galvao and many others. In 2021 we will be releasing our second documentary on a current legend, 7-time world champion and the only person to win worlds at 5 different weight classes, the extraordinary Leandro Lo.
The more we know, the better we get, and the more fun Jiu-Jitsu becomes. For white belts, my online resource is awesome because it unlocks a world of possibilities. For upper belts a lot of time they experience something different.
Change is hard, especially if what we are currently doing seems to be working. People are hesitant to learn, understand and play new positions and concepts. This is why I offer lesson plans and narrative rolling to take away that hesitation, to make it fun, and to help people learn the techniques and concepts. More importantly, it helps them understand Jiu-Jitsu! By thinking Jiu-Jitsu and not copying it, you can incorporate it into your game and start to evolve.
Thanks again and looking forward to releasing a ton of new material!
