After many, many months of planning on December of 2013 we launched Caioterra.com, evolution of learning. There are a lot of online training websites out there and I wanted mine to be a little different. In addition to sharing my Jiu Jitsu and the many lessons I learned along my journey with everyone, I also wanted to get to know others and build a very strong online community. To accomplish this in addition to the standard forums we included features like Disqus, an interactive reddit type question and answer format that let me connect with you guys and answer specific questions about each video. Connecting with every one is very important to me.
We also looked for ways to host our videos that made them easy to play with very little to no lag. I feel we accomplished this for the most part.
The video quality themselves started off ok and only got better. For the film crew, and myself (I do most of the editing and lesson plans) it was a steep learning curve. After bringing in numerous professionals to consult with us, we have decided to take the next step. In planning the remodel of my gym, Caio Terra Academy San Jose (www.bjjsanjose.com), we are going to design spaces specifically for teaching classes and filming online training. These areas will produce better images (lighting) and significantly better sound quality.
Overall I have to say it's been an amazing time, and I am very happy with the growth of our online community. Focusing on the feedback and what you guys asked for, we added content to the site. Now it's time to evolve again. We are in the beginning phases of the website redesign and we want to know what you guys want to see. Live streaming, live questions and answer sessions, multiple camera angles, more philosophy and self defense, please let us know!
One area that I am going to definitely improve is connecting you with each other. I wanted a place for you guys to also share stories and experiences and really get to know fellow practitioners from all over the world. Forums were not enough, so we will come up with something better.
You can leave a comment here or send an email to online@caioterra.com
ALL suggestions are greatly appreciated, this is after all YOUR on line training! For those who have been members for awhile, your feedback is definitely needed!
